This year Pharmacy Awareness Week (PAW) is March 1 - 6, 2010. PAW offers us the opportunity to take time to celebrate pharmacy and the important role of pharmacy technicians and assistants. PAW 2010 offers a chance for pharmacy technicians and assistants to further embrace the profession by promoting what pharmacy is all about.
While the role of pharmacy technicians and assistants is continually evolving and expanding and is multi-faceted, this year our focus is on the most basic aspect of pharmacy services: Filling Prescriptions.

How can you get involved in PAW?
Encourage all members of your pharmacy team to get involved in promoting the profession.
Create a display to remind patients and other health care professionals about the important role pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants play. Get creative and document the team by taking pictures that display what happens in your pharmacy.
Host a luncheon, presentation or social for pharmacy team members. Speak with students or other community groups.
Organize tours of the pharmacy. Participate in hosting patient educational clinics – Technicians can demonstrate and help show patients how to properly use health aid devices, such as blood glucose meters and blood pressure monitors while pharmacists share disease management information.
Be creative and have fun!

PAW wouldn't be complete without the opportunity to showcase and reward our members for their creativity and enthusiasm shown promoting and displaying the pharmacy profession during Pharmacy Awareness Week.
